Craig Diehl Say hello

Cloud Engineer & professional Terraform enthusiast

Hi 👋 I'm Craig.

I turn enterprise infrastructure into Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, sprinkle in AI, and build web apps for clients too.

Terraform, daily

A bit about me.

I'm a cloud engineer who genuinely likes this stuff. By day, I build Terraform-managed infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for enterprise teams, with an AI assist wherever it earns its keep. By choice, I build web applications for clients, because shipping something people actually use is the best part of the job.

Outside of work: home espresso experiments, trail running, and a Raspberry Pi cluster that exists purely for fun.

Here's what I bring to the table.

Six things I actually do, not just list on a resume.

Cloud & Infrastructure as Code

AWS, Azure, and GCP, provisioned with Terraform and Pulumi.

AI-Augmented Engineering

AI-assisted IaC review and runbooks that speed up enterprise work.

CI/CD & Delivery

GitHub Actions and GitLab CI, built for calm, boring releases.

Containers

Docker and Kubernetes, without the 2am pages.

Web Application Development

Vue 3, React, and Node, built for clients start to finish.

Security & Observability

Hardening, IAM, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

Craig building a web app

The part I do just because I like it.

Enterprise infrastructure pays the bills. Building web applications for clients, start to finish, is what I'd do on a slow weekend anyway. Same CI/CD habits, just a happier kind of ship day.

Where I've worked.

2022 – Present

Independent Cloud & Infrastructure Consultant

Terraform-managed cloud infrastructure and CI/CD delivery for healthcare, logistics, and SaaS clients, increasingly paired with AI-assisted automation and the occasional client web app.

2019 – 2022

Senior Cloud Engineer, Meridian Health Systems

Rebuilt the on-prem patient records platform as Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure, then automated most of the change review. Cut unplanned downtime by 40 percent.

2016 – 2019

Infrastructure Engineer, Cascade Logistics

Replaced manual network changes with version-controlled configuration across 12 warehouse sites, and shipped the company's first CI/CD pipeline.

2014 – 2016

IT Support Specialist, Brightline Capital

Where it started, and where I learned most outages trace back to an undocumented change.

A few things I'm proud of.

Server infrastructure

Meridian Health Systems

Cloud migration, rebuilt as Terraform

Moved a decade of on-prem patient infrastructure to AWS in six months, entirely as version-controlled Terraform, ahead of a HIPAA audit, with zero data loss and 40 percent less downtime.

Enterprise client, financial services

AI-assisted incident response

Paired existing runbooks with an AI-assisted triage layer, cutting time-to-remediation on routine incidents.

Independent client, e-commerce

Client web app, built and shipped

Designed, built, and deployed a Vue storefront through a CI/CD pipeline that now ships updates same-day.

"Craig found single points of failure our own team had missed for years. The migration finished early and nothing broke."

Elena Marsh, VP of Operations, Meridian Health Systems

Got a project? Let's talk.

Tell me what you're building or what's breaking. I usually reply within a day, coffee in hand.
